The Council is presently working to ensure that blind and partially sighted people get their Talking Book subscriptions funded by their local councils. Many councils already do this, but some do not, and in a period of financial stringency this can be a target for cuts.
The Council works together with RNIB Scotland and other players in the sector to support the Scottish Vision Strategy and is also involved , on a UK basis, with the National Vision Strategy.
The Council is represented on the Cross Party Group on Visual Impairment in the Scottish Parliament and also on UKAAF, the UK Association of Alternative Formats and the British Wireless for the Blind Fund.
